Unfortunately, you can’t choose your genes (wouldn’t that be nice?). However, you do have the ability to be picky and consume food filled with clean ingredients.
At Dang Foods, we use minimal, nutrient-dense and plant based ingredients so you can ditch “hangry” hour, boost energy during your busiest of days and satisfy your healthy-fat intake! Dang Bar is made from a combination of smooth almond butter (depending on which flavor), creamy cocoa butter, sweet coconut, complete pea protein, crunchy sunflower seeds and nutty chia seeds.
We understand food biology can get a bit confusing at times... so we’re here to simplify it for you!
Our ingredients in a NUTSHELL:
Almonds
Almonds are considered a “brain food” which will not exactly make us any smarter (we wish), but they do provide is with the essential nutrients for proper brain development. They contain vitamin E, vitamin B, magnesium, phosphorus, and calcium. Together, these vitamins and minerals work to keep your immune system in check, reduce the risk of developing heart disease, and help with weight management due to their ability to keep you fuller for longer! They also contain a quality combination of healthy-fats, fiber, and protein which work together to burn off that stubborn fat you may be trying to say goodbye to.
Coconuts
Did you know coconut meat is the healthiest white meat?! Coconuts alone contain 17 amino acids out of the 20 amino acids needed for optimal protein formation. Wow, talk about being extra in a good way! They contain hearty-healthy fats for improved cognitive function too. Coconuts are high in fiber which does wonders for your digestion system. The manganese in coconuts help metabolize fat and protein, so you have better luck at shedding off those extra pounds you have been trying to lose! The medium-chain triglycerides in coconut meat helps increase the body’s Ketone levels to help you reach Ketosis faster and more effectively.
Chia Seeds
Chia seeds may be tiny but they are a superfood powerhouse for sure that do more than just enhance the texture of our Dang Bars! They contain an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids which are rich in antioxidants. They also provide fiber, iron, and calcium which improve the quality of your skin, reduce signs of aging, support the heart and digestion system, and work to build strong bones and muscles. Their size definitely does not qualify them as an underdog in our books.
Sunflower Seeds
Sunflower seeds are our favorite avo-topper. Sunflower seeds provide a healthy source of fats. These fats are the building blocks for cell membranes, allowing the body to balance hormones and help slow down the absorption of food so that you feel fuller for longer. Sunflower seeds are 82% vitamin E which fight free radical damage from the sun and pollution, promoting healthy skin keeping you glowy and youthful.
Chicory Root Fiber
Chicory root fiber is made from the root of chicory plants. Chicory root fiber is special in the fact that is soluble and also functions as a prebiotic. This kind of Inulin fiber helps with keeping food flowing through you at a regular pace and makes you feel more full after consumption. This ingredient is especially great if you're trying to work on portion control or intermittent fasting. In fact, some people use this earthy plant powder as a caffeine-free substitute to their morning coffee.
Pea Protein
You can “make peas not war” with pea protein (we like to think we are funny). Pea protein is a low-carb, gluten and lactose free source of protein. Vegans, Vegetarians, Flexitarians, and participants of Meatless Mondays can all now rejoice and share a Dang Bar together! The yellow peas which make up this protein powder contain branched-chain amino acids which help with muscle recovery post workout. Pea protein benefits the heart, supports weight loss, lowers the risk of kidney disease, and regulates blood sugar levels in the body.
Cocoa Butter
You thought cocoa butter was only for after the shower? Guess again! Cocoa butter is not only an ideal skin moisturizer but when eaten can provide numerous health benefits such as improving immunity, lowering inflammation, improving heart health, and aiding in the anti-aging process. This is due to cocoa butter being a high antioxidant food, containing polyphenol and flavonoid antioxidants. Even though the saturated fats found in cocoa butter were once feared in society, individuals today are starting to embrace foods that have a healthy source of fat such as cocoa butter for its nutritional profile, realizing that they have an array of heart-healthy benefits favorable for human consumption!
