  • Sales Associate

    Dang Foods is a lean and high growth startup that reinvents familiar foods into tasty, globally-inspired, and better-for-you snacks. Our founders named Dang after their mother, who inspired them to create the company with her family recipe. Using minimal ingredients, all its products are Non-GMO Project Verified, gluten-free, and mostly plant-based & vegan. The Company is a Certified B Corp, meeting rigorous standards of social and environmental performance.

    In 2017, Dang won the “Best Snack” Sofi award for their Coconut Crunch Sticky Rice Chips. The brand has the #1 selling coconut chip in both natural and conventional supermarkets. Dang is sold in around 10,000 stores nationwide, including Whole Foods, Kroger, Safeway, Target, and Ahold, and via online stores including Amazon and Thrive Market.

    The Position: Sales Associate
    Reports To: Operations Manager

    The Sales Associate’s Mission: To ensure that Dang’s day to day operations run smoothly.

    Responsibilities/Tactics:

    • Execute order processing, including confirming purchase orders, coordinating pickups/deliveries, issuing returns or credits, and invoicing.
    • Manage our shipping brokers and deliveries to ensure all timely and affordable delivery of product.
    • Negotiate with shipping brokers to optimize freight expense.
    • Manage our 3rd party warehouse and coordinate with them to setup new items, such as mixed cases of product.
    • Coordinate and communicate closely with sales team or buyers in regards to purchase orders, delivery status, pricing and delivery issues, out of stocks (if applicable) in order to ensure highest levels of customer service.
    • Prepare new item paperwork for sales team.
    • Prepare sales kits/product samples/marketing materials (t-shirts, flyers, coupons, etc.) to mail out our sales representatives, key buyers and consumer events.
    • Perform other administrative and accounting duties as assigned.

    The Position: Position: Director of Sales, West

    The top priorities of the Director of Sales, West are to:

    • Partner with the executive team to create, develop, and execute sales plans that increase market share and achieve sales growth year over year.
    • Own key account relationships and responsibilities while developing innovative
      customer plans to grow sales.
    • Effectively manage and motivate regional sales teams in the West (currently 1 full-time regional sales manager opening) by setting goals and measuring success against those goals.
    • Develop and manage key distributor partners within the West.
    • Effectively manage broker partners such as Presence/Dynamic, Green Spoon, Edge,
      HRK, etc.
    • Work with ops to contribute to forecasting st while ensuring appropriate
      inventory levels and service to our customers to manage growth.
    • Successfully launch line extensions and new product lines.
    • Increase per-store sales velocity by designing an appropriate promo plan for each customer and managing and analyzing trade spend within budget.
    • Perform customer assessments and institute changes to improve product positioning in light of market trends and competitor actions.
    • Contribute to forecasting systems for us to manage our growth.
    • Maintain regular communication and contribute to the team effort across the company.

    The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can manage many tasks and has extraordinary
    interpersonal skills and analytical ability. They have a bias toward action, is scrappy and hungry, an has extremely high standards as well as high IQ and EQ. Working with a sense of urgency is common among Dangsters. The successful candidate will be motivated by developing our business and can lay out a strategic map for themselves and put it into action. This is the perfect role for a professional seeking a highly impactful, leadership position within a fast growing company.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    • 5+ years of sales experience in the natural/specialty and grocery channel, selling grocery products (ideally in snacks). Additional channel experience (conventional, foodservice, DSD) a plus.
    • Possesses relationships with key account buyers (UNFI, Whole Foods, Sprout’s, Lucky’s Market, Kroger, Albertsons/Safeway) – ideally in the natural snack/dried fruit/nuts category.
    • Proven track record of maximizing sales in existing accounts / increasing same-store sales.
    • Demonstrated success in managing a national network of brokers and distributors in the natural/specialty, conventional, and foodservice channels.
    • Experience in effectively managing trade spend with focus on ROI.
    • Driven by analytics and data (e.g., IRI, Nielsen, Spins, retailer/distributor reports) when making decisions and presenting to key customers.
    • Experience working for a start-up / small company, and growing a brand from $10M to $25M+.
    • Experience in the launching of new products.
    • High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs.

    The Position: Brand Ambassador

    Location: Boston, New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area or Seattle markets

    The Job Description: Dang Foods is searching for highly energetic and professional Brand Ambassadors to introduce consumers to the magic of coconut chips and onion chips one mouth at a time. We’re looking for individuals to be a part of a dynamic team focused on brand awareness and education. Primary focus is on conducting demos/samplings of Dang products in store and at events. In addition to interacting with consumers face to face, our ambassadors will be responsible for building relationships with the staff at store level and supporting the Dang Area Sales Manager in maximizing our brand presence in those stores.

    The Dang Brand Ambassador is charged with:
    • Creating genuine excitement about Dang
    • Understanding and sharing knowledge of the Dang and its products
    • Actively engaging consumers & store staff to spread brand awareness and build brand affinity
    Responsibilities:
    • Schedule and conduct demos/events in a professional and timely manner
    • Drive to all location sites within the area of coverage
    • Set up and break down all equipment
    • Maintain proper inventory levels during and after events
    • Provide detailed post-event report of consumer interactions, product feedback and status of Dang presence in store (stock on shelves, display locations, etc.)
    • Drop off product, swag, coupons, etc. to local grocery teams and influencers
    • Participate in an initial onboarding call as well as quarterly update calls, and stay informed regularly on the latest product & messaging updates through email

    Requirements:
    • Food/CPG demo experience (preferably at least 1 year)
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Reliable, responsible, responsive, organized
    • Enthusiastic, outgoing, professional
    • Passionate about healthy foods and active lifestyles
    • Able to complete job responsibilities & manage time independently but willing (and excited!) to work as part of a larger regional sales and marketing team
    • Able to adapt to changing conditions and proactively solve issues as circumstances change
    • Occasional evening and weekend availability
    • Has a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and a reliable car
    • Able to stand on your feet for extended periods and lift 30 lbs.
    • Access to a smartphone and/or tablet

    The Position: Social Media Intern

    The Job: Dang Foods is searching for a Social Media Intern to help grow our 40,000+ community of “Dangsters.” If you’re social media obsessed, enthusiastic about connecting with people, and have a unique and contextual understanding of cutting edge marketing tactics – we’re looking for you!

    The Social Media Intern’s Mission: Support our Social Media manager in creating a viral brand presence in the social space

    Responsibilities/Tactics:

    • Build meaningful connections through digital correspondence: own all aspects of social engagement and incoming inquiries
    • Schedule and create posts: produce polished, upbeat content for captions and blog articles
    • Assist on influencer campaigns: facilitate and track shipments, follow-up on pending posts, capture user-generated content
    • Collaborate with marketing team on up-coming and on-going projects: prepping product launches, social campaigns, giveaways, events, etc.

    Requirements/Competencies:

    • Proactive and professional communication skills

    Location: Our office is located in Berkeley CA, must be available to work two full days (or three half days) on-site.
